“Our Youth Board members are outstanding young leaders in the service field and are wonderful contributing members of the YSA family,” said Danielle Miranda, Manager of International Outreach. “It is a true testament to the caliber of their dedication to service that they were selected by their Youth Council peers to serve on YSA’s Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 year. I think they will be a great asset to the Board and will provide a young perspective that will only enhance YSA’s programming and our ability to provide youth around the world the opportunity to serve.”

Simone Bernstein
Simone is a sophomore at St. Bonaventure University in upstate New York. She is an active volunteer in her hometown of St Louis, MO and in her college community. Simone co-founded St Louis Volunteen.com and VolunTEENnation.com, which are two online resources for youth to easily find volunteer opportunities. Simone has helped over 1,500 students find volunteer opportunities at www.stlouisvolunteen.com, and convinced more than 45 organizations to consider youth under 18 as volunteers. For her work, Simone was chosen as one of L'Oreal's 2010 Women of Worth, received a Prudential Spirit of Community Award, and was voted a "Greatest Person of the Day" at www.huffingtonpost.com.
Jared Doles
Jared Doles is a student at Arizona State University in Tempe, majoring in film production. He currently serves as President of ASU’s March of Dimes chapter and is involved with Circle K International, currently serving as Vice President. Jared is also the winner of the President’s Outstanding Youth Service Award and member of the Leadership Scholarship Program. Jared previously served as one of 11 International Trustees of Key Club International and serves on March of Dimes’ National Youth Council.
Alex Metzman
Alex is a student at the University School of Nashville and is a leader within the Jewish community through his work with BBYO (B'nai B'rith Youth Organization). Alex currently serves as a BBYO International Vice President of Jewish Heritage where he serves as a resource, advisor, and sounding board for his counterparts across the system. In this capacity, he is tasked with ensuring that Judaic content is incorporated in programs in every community. Alex is involved in BBYO, having served on the regional and international boards and as secretary and treasurer. Additionally, he has been involved in his school's student government for all four years as president, treasurer and class representative.
Vivian Shaw
Vivian is a freshman at Harvard University. She is originally from Austin, Texas, but is acclimating well to cold weather. She is a National Girl Consultant on Girl Scouts of the USA's National Board Leadership Lanes (NBLL), where she works with 14 other scouts to provide a “girls' voice” to the national movement. She was a 2009 recipient of the National Young Woman of Distinction (NYWOD) award. A global citizen, Vivian has worked in children’s hospitals and orphanages in London and Costa Rica, and organized a long-term service project to provide school supplies and pen pals to children who lost their parents in the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan, China.
